Terms of Service
Effective Date: June 16, 2026
Welcome to Postcode Shipping Rules. By installing or using our Shopify Application (the "App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you must immediately uninstall the App.
1. The Service
The App provides functional tools enabling Shopify store owners ("Merchants") to conditionally hide or show specific shipping options during checkout based on the postcodes configured within the App dashboard.
2. Provided Regional Datasets (NZ, AUS, CA, UK, USA)
To assist with your store configuration, the App provides preset, country-specific default postcode lists covering various markets, currently targeting New Zealand, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
- Accuracy Disclaimer: These default national postcode datasets are supplied in good faith. They are correct to the best of our knowledge at the time of publication.
- Potential Discrepancies: Postal networks change, and regional boundaries update. We do not warrant or guarantee that these default datasets are entirely flawless, complete, or up to date. Discrepancies may occur.
- Dataset Updates: We will update the default system lists periodically as we are notified of postal changes. However, we are under no obligation to monitor real-time courier updates.
- Active List Modification: While the core default templates cannot be altered directly, the store owner can modify, append, or delete items from their active, live storefront rules list at any time.
- Merchant Verification: You are strictly required to review and verify your active list within the App dashboard to ensure it aligns with your specific courier contracts before launching them live.
3. App Usage and Merchant Responsibilities
By using this App, you agree to the following conditions:
- Configuration Accuracy: You are entirely responsible for accurately verifying and maintaining your active rules. We are not responsible for lost sales, abandoned carts, or incorrect shipping charges resulting from misconfigured settings or dataset discrepancies.
- Compliance with Laws: You agree to use the App in compliance with all applicable local shipping, e-commerce, and consumer protection regulations.
- Checkout Integration: The App relies on Shopify's checkout platform, APIs, and Delivery Customization infrastructure to operate correctly.
The App determines which shipping methods should be displayed based on the customer address information available to Shopify at the time checkout calculations occur.
You acknowledge that:
- Shipping method visibility is evaluated using the customer address information currently available to Shopify when checkout calculations occur.
- Shopify may cache, retain, or reuse customer checkout sessions, addresses, shipping selections, and other checkout state information.
- In certain circumstances, shipping methods may not immediately refresh when a customer returns to an existing checkout session, navigates away from checkout and returns, or uses previously saved address information.
- The App cannot control Shopify's internal checkout caching, session management, address retention, shipping rate caching, or recalculation behaviour.
- Merchants are responsible for testing their shipping configuration within their own storefront and checkout environment.
- We do not guarantee that shipping methods will be recalculated instantly in every checkout scenario supported by Shopify.
The App will attempt to apply configured postcode rules whenever Shopify invokes the associated Delivery Customization function. Final checkout behaviour remains subject to Shopify platform limitations, checkout state, caching mechanisms, and Shopify processing rules.
4. Fees and Billing
All charges associated with the App are handled securely through the Shopify platform:
- Billing Cycle: Subscriptions and fees are billed directly via Shopify's standard billing infrastructure in accordance with your chosen plan.
- Refunds: All refund requests are governed by standard Shopify App Store policies. Please contact our support team directly to request a fee adjustment.
5. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages—including but not limited to loss of revenue, profits, customer goodwill, or store downtime—arising from the use, inability to use, or reliance on data provided within the App.
We are not responsible for discrepancies caused by Shopify checkout caching, saved customer addresses, previously created checkout sessions, accelerated checkout methods, third-party checkout modifications, customer browser cache, or other Shopify platform behaviour outside our control.
6. Termination and Data Deletion
You may terminate this agreement at any time by uninstalling the App from your Shopify store.
Upon uninstallation, merchant-specific data associated with your store will be automatically deleted following receipt of Shopify's uninstall webhook notification.
Data typically includes:
- Your Shopify store domain
- Shipping method configuration settings
- Uploaded postcode and postcode rule data
Deletion may occur immediately upon receipt of Shopify's uninstall notification, however merchants should allow up to 48 hours for complete removal from all systems.
7. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. Any changes will become immediately effective upon posting the updated terms within this document. Continued use of the App after updates constitutes your explicit acceptance of the new terms.
